Here are a series of photos showing the rear end housing preparation. Addition of dual upper control arms, webbed top and bottom, prevent the housing from bending, and help make the car go straight while the rear tires are spinning !

On the left is a completely stock 3.55 posi-traction. On the right is a 4.56:1 ratio specially prepared "pumpkin" for drag racing. It starts with a stock "4 series" standard differential with a spider gear eliminator kit ( mini spool ). This gives constant drive to both wheels. Then the entire differential carrier was filled with 90 durometer urethane. This has, in effect, made it one piece. A tremendous advantage over the mini-spool alone in that the rotational force is transmitted not just through a 3/4" spider gear shaft, but the entire body of the differential..... virtually indistructable !
Also, you can see the machined steel bearing cap re-enforcements. A necessity in applications where slicks will be used. These fully machined / ready to install re-enforcements are available exclusively from us. Just go into "Our Products for 409 Cars".
Just before engine installation. Note header arrangement... these are the Belanger design 1 7/8" tube / 3" collector. Engine getting "hooked up". Fuel lines and linkage had yet to be done.
4 speed installation.
This special billet aluminum distributor utilizes all factory components. Will accept the popular Pertronix ignition conversions as well.
